We offer a wide range of lenses, including single vision, bifocal, occupational, and varifocal options, ensuring we can meet your individual visual needs.

We are also proud to be one of the few opticians to offer a £0 reglaze service when using your existing frames—an added value that many other providers charge for.

We believe every child who needs glasses should have access to quality eyewear. That’s why our extensive range of children’s frames and lenses is fully covered by the NHS voucher. Please note: lens thinning is available at an additional cost.(NHS voucher covers up to age 18)

Our Varifocal Offerings

Varifocals are lenses that can cause much confusion as no one varifocal are the same.

How they work

Varifocals are lenses where multiple prescriptions are. blended smoothly into one lens

A varifocal lens has:

Top zone: for distance vision (driving, walking, TV)
Middle zone: for intermediate vision (computer work)
Bottom zone: for near vision (reading, phone)

The change between these zones is gradual, so you don’t see any line on the lens. (Compared with a bifocal which has the line split which can be seen)

There are many varifocal lens designs available on the market. At Blackhams, we primarily recommend Essilor lenses who were the inventors of varifocal lenses and let too exceptional visual clarity, and superior field of view. These lenses are designed to provide you with the highest standard of vision across all distances with the latest Varilux XR lenses using AI technology.
